CSV1W Above-Ground Installation Instructions

NOTE: Submersible motor manufacturers recommend using a flow inducer sleeve to be sure the motor is sufficiently cooled at low flows. Pressure differential across the valve cannot be more than 125 PSI.

Please read all instructions before installation.

1) Be sure that well has been pumped clean before any valve installations. It is also important that all lines including the pump be flushed clean of debris. Turn off power to pump and drain system.

2) The valve must be installed on the pump side of the pressure tank/pressure switch with all water outlets downstream of the valve. Flow direction is indicated by the arrow on the CSV1W. (Note: There cannot be any water outlets between the pump and the CSV1W. If outlet lines exist between the well and the tank, the valve must be installed prior to those outlets.)

3) The pressure tank should be installed on a tank tee at a 90 degree angle to the main discharge line downstream of the of the CSV1W. Pressure switch and other controls must be installed on the small line or tank tee as close to the diaphragm type pressure tank as possible. Do not install pressure switch directly on main line away from pressure tank. Pre-charge pressure in the tank should be 5-10 psi lower than pressure switch start point. (See set up example below)

4) CYCLE STOP VALVE should be tightened using teflon tape on threaded ends. Four to seven wraps of teflon tape is usually sufficient. All connections should be water tight.

5) This valve is factory set at 50 PSI. To reset the pressure, first loosen (counter clockwise) the locking allen screw on the side of the adjustment screw. Next, using a standard flat head screw driver, turn the screw counter clockwise to its lowest pressure setting (45 PSI) . Open a garden hose downstream and turn on pump. Slowly choke the hose until demand is approximately 3 GPM. Turn the adjustment screw clockwise until the CSV1W pressure steadies at the desired pressure. You can then lock in the adjustment by tightening up the allen screw (clockwise). The valve cap can be used for tamper resistance but is not necessary in above ground applications or if it will be submerged.

6) Close off downstream water usage. The pressure tank will fill at approximately 1 GPM from the valve set pressure to the pressure switch cut off pressure. Pressure tank drawdown determines how much higher the pressure switch shut off point must be than the pressure regulated by the CSV1W.

Note: For example, if you are using a larger pressure tank, (5 gallon drawdown and larger) adjustments can be made to the pressure switch settings to adjust for excessive run times due to slow tank filling. First, demand water until pressure tank is empty allowing the pump to come on. Second, immediately stop all demand and time out 2 minutes. Third, lower your pressure switch cut out point until the pump is shut off. (i.e. 10 gallon drawdown tank...valve set at 50 psi...pressure switch setting would be approximately 34/54 to get the 2 minute run time desired).
